FIFA delete tweet that appears to make dig at Cristiano Ronaldo after Lionel Messi's World Cup heroics with Argentina amid GOAT debate

In recent tweet from FIFA  official account appears to have made a dig towards Cristiano Ronaldo after Lionel Messi's World Cup victory.

Messi has settled the long-established debates between him and his rival by successfully assisting Argentina in winning the tournament and scoring in the final.

After Messi scored seven goals in Qatar this victory trumped the Portuguese international's one.

On official FIFA World Cup’s account, the organisation tweeted: "Thumbs up if you really enjoyed the #FIFAWorldCup" with a picture of Ronaldo with his digit in the air.

Nevertheless, the fans didn't take it lightly, which led to the tweet being removed soon after.

This tweet was posted swiftly after Messi's victory: "The GOAT debate is settled. The ultimate prize is now part of the collection. The legacy is complete."

The above tweet has been removed from their account, with Ronaldo becomingly unable to get away from the comparisons.

With Argentina crowned champions, Portugal were able to reach the quarter-finals, with both players having different levels of success.

Ronaldo has been silent on social media, ever since the World Cup final.

Nevertheless, the silent treatment to social media is more likely to be giving his undivided attention on the next step of his career.

The forward has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, and is expected to sign for them by the end of the year.

Despite Messi's outright victory, the long time debate will continue between the two football stars amongst fans.

With the World Cup over, Ronaldo may never get his hands on the World Cup, but he will be forever remembered as one of the best to ever do it.
